Let’s face it. Some months (hint hint: January) are slower than others when it comes to sales – that is just how it is, for every small business. As the founder of the Swedish jewelry brand Caroline Hjerpe, I’ve had months where I could barely keep up with orders, and months where I went days without any customers. No matter what the reason is, it is always scary to have a slow month – but don’t panic! I’m giving you five good ways to boost your sales whenever you need to.
Maybe it’s time to give your customers a little sale? Everybody loves a discount. Whatever the reason is for the slow business, everyone will get happy again when their favorite product is a little cheaper, I promise! Tip! Add a “20% off any product for 20 hours”-discount. In that way you incentivize people to buy now and it’s not for a long period of time so you won’t lose too much profit!
2. Add more images to your products.
Show how your products fare in the real world, ways to use or wear it – and people will see more on why they need it. It’s best to have at least 3-4 images on each product, and you can also have a link to your Instagram in your store – so your customers can see even more pics! Data from Tictail shows that the more photos you have of a product, the more you sell!
3. Free shipping.
This makes people go wild worldwide! As much as people love a discount, they hate paying for shipping. Free shipping is a way to get more people across the globe to buy your products, and it will probably cost you less than having a discount. Tip! As well as for the discounts, add a time limited free shipping offer so that people will hurry to buy their favorite product.
4. Offer a package deal.
Sell a package with one of your most popular products, and throw in your most popular “add on” product (something that you always sell for a little less money). And make sure you mention that they will get the other product for free. Tip! Maybe partner up with another brand that you like, and make a package deal with them. This will get both of you a wider range of customers.
5. Get ambassadors who can wear/use your product.
IT-girls, IT-guys, IT-people. Yes, if you can get someone popular on social media to wear or use your product and mention you at the same time – that will probably boost your sales. A lot of people out there want to look as good as their role model.
