#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “Korea had this air of familiarity and unfamiliarity at the same time. It sort of felt like a ginormous version of home back in Queens, New York. Everyone looked like me, allowing me to blend into the sea of Koreans without anyone knowing who I was. Of course anytime I opened my mouth, it was clear I wasn’t from the neighborhood.” - From “Please Come Back Soon” by @janicekaramchung - now on @tagtagtagmag
#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “I think my mom bought me my first camera which was a lavender Kodak point and shoot that we got at Target. When we came home with it, my brother yelled at us for investing in something I didn’t research about (I bought it cause it was lavender.) Turns out it was a terrible camera but I grew to have a love-hate relationship with it. After that, I sort of just kept going. I think as a kid I didn’t talk very much especially at home so it seemed natural for me to pick up a camera which would become my tool to communicate.” - @janicekaramchung on @tagtagtagmag
#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “Please Come Back Soon” takes place when Chung meets a part of her family that she had never met before, in a place that she had never been. As an effort to wrangle many unknowns together, Chung turns to the camera to let it translate the foreign feelings - From “Please Come Back Soon” by @janicekaramchung - now on @tagtagtagmag
#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “I’ve been working on “Split Tree Road” for five years. Although I feel like I’ve completed a large portion of the work, I wouldn’t say that it is finished. I continue to observe things about my life and my family that are shifting and changing. However, my children are both in college and my older son will be graduating, so this chapter of our lives together will soon be ending.” - From “Split Tree Road” by @sharondraghi - now on @tagtagtagmag
#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “Photographing my family has created some tensions. I try very hard to be sensitive and not overly intrusive. I always ask them if I can bring the camera out, and sometimes they just are not in the mood and I accept that. It’s been particularly challenging for my husband, who values his privacy.” - From “Split Tree Road” by @sharondraghi - now on @tagtagtagmag
#TTTCollection - “A Family” - “This project has been my way of making sense of my life. My family is precious to me and I feel this need to explore and to “document” our existence. Maybe that’s because I lost my father at an early age.” - From “Split Tree Road” by @sharondraghi - now on @tagtagtagmag
